The Fall 2018 Semester is underway! Welcome back for another great academic year. This semester TALONS will meet on Wednesdays at 4:30pm in the Enactus room at SGBDC.

Welcome back for Spring Semester!

Our Spring Kick Off will be January 18th!

The semester is almost over. Our last meeting of the Fall semester will be December 7. We will recap the RUSecure CTF preliminary round and celebrate the end of the semester. Good luck on finals!

We will resume meetings in the Spring on January 18 at 4:30pm in the Enactus Center.

November 13th begins National Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week. NWACC students, faculty and staff as well as other local schools are invited to participate in the National Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week Cybersecurity Challenge, a nation-wide challenge for educators, students, career counselors, and others that will ignite interest in cybersecurity careers by enabling participants to test drive cybersecurity careers with a free online cybersecurity career exploration platform called the NSA Day of Cyber. The event will run from November 13th to December 5th.

The NSA Day of Cyber is an interactive web platform that enables students to take a seat beside the NSA Cyber Threat Director and test drive a day in the life of six NSA cybersecurity professionals. Students virtually participate in challenging real-world cybersecurity scenarios that will allow them to discover the skills and tools used by the NSA cybersecurity professionals and explore the vast number of careers in cybersecurity. Once completed, each student will receive their Cybersecurity Resume and Certificate of Completion.

The Division of Business and Computer Information at NorthWest Arkansas Community College will host a symposium regarding cyber security from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 25. The activities are part of NWACC’s observance of National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

Individuals from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Alexis Information Systems, Arvest Bank,
and Walmart will be featured speakers.

All sessions will be in Peterson Auditorium of the Shewmaker Center for Global Business Development on the NWACC campus in Bentonville.

The schedule includes time, topic, and presenter as follows:
9 a.m. — EU Cookie Law and Website Compliance presented by Denise Brooks, owner
of Alexis Information Systems
10:30 a.m. — Leadership in InfoSec, presented by Shaki Prakash, technical expert in
cybersecurity for Walmart Stores Inc.
Noon — Cybercrime, presented by Jason Frankenberger, a special agent with the FBI
1:30 p.m. — Wireless Security, presented by Jordan Sallis, senior security engineer with
Arvest Bank.
3 p.m. — IoT (Internet of Things) Security, presented by Allen Courtright, technical
expert, InfoSec Rapid Response Team, Walmart.
